With the Arkansas River running through town, Monarch Mountain still shining with the last snow days of the season into April, and miles of nearby trail access opening up for the season, Salida gives weekday travelers more than a few ways to explore outside the lines.

Explore Outside This Spring.
Enjoy 1,200 feet of the Arkansas River in downtown. Cross the bridge and spend an afternoon beside the Arkansas at Salida Whitewater Park. It’s the easiest way to experience mountain views, moving water, and the best of Salida in spring.
When spring hits Salida, hiking trails start to becoming the go-to for visitors. Arkansas Hills starts opening up in mid-March, and by mid-April even more of Methodist Mountain comes back into play.
Browns Canyon National Monument
For guests who want a bigger outing, the Browns Canyon and the Arkansas Headwaters corridor is the place to be this spring. Even before peak summer rafting, this is prime Salida scenery: granite walls, river access, and that wide-open Arkansas Valley feel.

Loved this spot and it’s SO nice for the price and convenient location. Loved the local coffee and snacks in the lobby, the design and decor was cool and modern and the staff are awesome! The oooonly thing I’d say is that pillows need to be re-thought. They were hard and thin and didn’t do the excellent mattress justice. Otherwise, it was perfect!Posted on Kevin BurnsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My wife and I have treated ourselves to a vacation around February or March every year for the last four or so years at the Amigo. Extremely comfortable rooms, a really nice hot tub and a wonderfully relaxing sun room where you can have a fire going in evenings and properly relax after a day of skiing/hiking/etc. Very conveniently located a ln extremely short drive into downtown Salida and less than 30 minutes from Monarch Mountain. Other touches like the decor and landscaping - plus the courteous, friendly and responsive staff - make this feel like a deluxe trip at a very affordable price. We'll be back every year that we're able.Posted on ShoshannahTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Met my family at the Amigo Motor Lodge for a mini vacation. We stayed in an airstream which was super comfortable and had the feel of a remote destination with the stick fence and nature area behind it. Such a unique experience and so much cooler than a hotel room. Ours had the queen bed plus bunk beds and we all slept so well. The bunk bed mattresses were really comfortable. Roku TV, The boho vibes, private deck with chairs and string lights, lounge area, hot tub, good coffee and nice staff all made the stay extra pleasant. Bathrooms were very clean and just a short distance away. Worth walking to bathroom for a unique experience. I’ll send people there when they ask where to stay. Location is great too for visiting Salida and the hot springs near Buena Vista.Posted on Katherine StewartTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Stayed here this winter for a few days of skiing at Monarch, and it was wonderful! Comfortable rooms and great location. Owner was so kind and flexible with us when the thermostat went a little haywire. Would definitely do a repeat stay.Posted on Tim ScoutonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. "camping" in one of Airstreams, it's different and memorable.Posted on Cassie CarneyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We stayed here to break up the drive from Fort Collins to Pagosa Springs and it was perfect. This place has been remodeled and cared for in a way that makes the property feel clean and safe. Not to mention the vibes and decor are soooo cute and fun. Would 100% recommend for folks passing through or staying in Salida.
